Joining Scouting

In the first place, please e-mail details of your child to “” so that they can be added onto the Group's ‘Joining-in’ List. This can be done at any age. Please include the following information:

  • Child's full nameParents Guide - A to Z of Scouting
  • Date of birth
  • Address and Postcode
  • Parent / Guardian contact names
  • Contact telephone numbers (land & mobile)
  • Any additional e-mail contacts

Our aim is to offer a place at the earliest opportunity; however, Scouting is very popular in our area, which unfortunately means we can't always offer a place to a potential member as soon as we would like to. Therefore, in order to be transparent and open, we have defined the way in which we will offer places to young people from our Joining-in List.

When a place is available, the appropriate Leader will contact you and make arrangements for your child to go to their first meeting; where they can meet the Leader and see what a meeting is like.

Once your child seems to be ‘at home’, you will be given a Parent Pack that provides you with lots of information about Scouting, the Group and the things that your child will be doing.  At his stage it will be necessary for you to fill out a Young Person Information Form, so as to register them with The Scout Association.
